Deep year for in-state talent
The Class of 2017 crop of in-state talent is as deep as any year in recent memory.
This week, Mid-Prairie defensive end Levi Duwa became the 16th player from Iowa to pick up a Division I FBS scholarship offer, which came from Minnesota on Thursday.
To put that into perspective, that is already more than any other year in the past decade and we are still 11 months away from National Signing Day 2017.
"The in-state Class of 2017 could potentially one of the most talented and deepest over the last few decades," said Luke Feddersen of IowaPreps.com. "The sheer number of early offers has never been seen and it could result in a large number of Division I schools from outside of state borders looking at the potential within this junior class."
Here is a quick comparison to previous in-state classes, keeping in mind that we have not even reached the spring evaluation period or summer camps where we typically see more recruits earning offers. Could we reach 20 in the Class of 2017? Only time will tell.
